Our Story

Greetings! We are Mark and Rebecca, baby wearers since 2000. During our Bradley Method childbirth class for our first child, we learned of SlingEZee and made our first purchase. Through the years, we tried many other baby carriers out of curiosity, to confirm over and over again that SlingEZee provides optimal comfort and ease of use. After two years, I (Rebecca) became a distributor for SlingEZee, simply because I was constantly asked from friends and strangers where I got my sling from. I kept a box of SlingEZee’s in the trunk of my car for those interested in purchasing one. In 2003 our relationship with Tracy, the creator of SlingEZee, transformed from just being distributors, to being good friends. After almost 20 years since SlingEZee’s conception, Tracy offered to sell the SlingEZee brand name to us. In January 2007, we purchased the SlingEZee brand because baby wearing is a passion for us, and because SlingEZee is our favorite design.
SlingEZee has a long, rich history, which we’d like to share with you. Tracy was a young mother living in Capistrano Beach, California in the eighties. Her pediatrician was Dr. William Sears, who is widely known now as an author and supporter of attachment parenting and good nutrition. Dr. Sears considered Tracy’s son to be a hyperactive baby. In Dr. Sears’ book, “The Fussy Baby,” he refers to the matches of types of babies to types of parents. For example, a high need baby matched with an unresponsive parent is a terrible match. But a high need baby matched with a responsive parent is a great match. As Tracy met her son’s needs, she built trust and security in him, which was crucial to his development. Wearing her baby was a key component to ‘making life happen’ for Tracy and her family. This was definitely counter-cultural at that time – but now that her son is grown, Tracy can definitely see the benefits.
Tracy started as a sling distributor for Dr. Sears, but as changes were made, she veered off on her own with the support of La Leche League International. Tracy improved upon the sling design greatly, researching what was just the right amount of padding, creating the sling in five different sizes – which is a must for padded slings – and keeping the breastfeeding mother first and foremost in her mind for every design element. That is how SlingEZee came about in 1987, at Tracy’s kitchen table. Her goal was to help mothers keep their babies close to them. All these years later, SlingEZee is being shipped all over the world, doing just that. We are so thankful for the legacy Tracy has built.
Our goal for SlingEZee is to continue the high quality and great design that Tracy provided for many years, while ushering in a fresh look with fashionable fabrics that baby wearers will enjoy wearing as part of their wardrobe. Enjoy your new SlingEZee, and know that we are always here to support you in wearing your baby!
